Kelly Blue Book Value for a 2016 Ford Escape 17 000 Miles

2016 Ford Escape Trim Levels are Limited, but the Three Trims Offer Many Add-on Packages

While the 2016 Ford Escape is only offered in a trio of trim levels, multiple engine options and a plethora of add-on packages and features make it an extremely versatile SUV.

Key Points

  • Find the 2016 Ford Escape in three unique trim levels: the S, SE, and Titanium.
  • Kelley Blue Book pricing ranges from just under $15,000 on an Escape S to nearly $20,000 on Titanium.
  • All trims come with Ford's six-speed SelectShift Transmission, paired to either a 2.5L engine, a 1.8L EcoBoost, or a 2.0L EcoBoost.
  • Tech, safety, and convenience features are lacking in S and SE trims. For example, only Escape Titanium offers built-in navigation, blind-spot monitoring, and active park assist, to name a few.
  • The minimal cost spread between the S and the Titanium makes the latter an exceptional value overall.

2016 Escape S Has All the Essentials, Offers Several Add-on Packages for Those Wanting More Bells and Whistles

The entry-level trim for the 2016 Ford Escape is the S, and it's only available in front-wheel-drive (FWD) with the standard 2.5L engine. All Escapes feature a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, no matter the trim or engine.

You won't find fog lights on an S trim, and the door handles are black instead of body-colored, and rather than alloy rims, you get 17-inch steel wheels with hubcaps. Sure, it's lacking the creature comforts of upper trims. But if you're okay with cloth seats, a six-speaker sound system, and a 4.2-inch center screen, an Escape S with about 80,000 miles should run just shy of $15,000 on a dealer's lot, per Kelley Blue Book (KBB).

Optional Packages on Escape S

The S trim comes with several optional features, including:

  • 17-inch Sparkle Silver-painted aluminum wheels
  • Cargo area protector
  • Splash guards
  • Wheel lock kit

KBB shows only the aluminum wheels add to the cost of a used 2016 Escape S, and only by about $50-$100.

2016 Escape SE Adds a Surplus of Interior and Exterior Extras, Comes Standard with 1.8L EcoBoost Engine

Upgrading to an SE Escape will get you the 1.8L EcoBoost Engine with Active Grille Shutters, which can be paired with 4WD for an additional $900 or so.

Inside you'll find premium cloth upholstery, an outside temperature display, chrome-finished door handles, a 10-way power driver's seat, and a center armrest for rear passengers. Acoustic-laminated front-door glass also comes on Escape SE and helps reduce road noise.

As for the exterior, enjoy:

  • Black upper grille with chrome accents
  • Body-colored door handles
  • Bright beltline moldings
  • Dual chrome exhaust tips
  • Rear privacy glass

Skid plates are also included on Escape SE, as are 17-inch Sparkle Silver-painted aluminum wheels, fog lights, and Ford's exclusive SecuriCode keypad feature. Looking up the 2016 Escape SE's Blue Book Value, we found the fair purchase price of a standard FWD to be $16,400 when buying from a dealer.

Optional Packages on Escape SE

Opt for the 201A Convenience Package on Escape SE and get:

  • Eight-inch touchscreen with Sync 3
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Nine-speaker sound system
  • Reverse sensing with perimeter alarm

Standalone add-ons include the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, 18-inch wheels, black roof rail crossbars, and a cargo area protector. You can also enhance an SE Escape with Ford's Panoramic Vista Roof, as well as a hands-free power liftgate. However, the latter is only available when paired to the 201A package.

Exclusive to the 2.0L engine, add the Class II Trailer Tow Package and the 2016 Escape will haul up to 3,500 pounds.

The Chrome Package sees the door handles, rear liftgate trim, side-view mirrors, and lower front grille all dipped in chrome. What's more, get partial leather-trimmed seats and 19-inch chrome-like alloy-finished wheels. Find an Escape with the Cold Weather Package for heated front seats and side mirrors, as well as all-weather floor mats.

While it doesn't pair with the Chrome or Cold Weather Packages, the Leather Comfort bundle wraps the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob in full leather. It also adds a one-touch up/down feature to the power windows.

A 4WD Escape SE with all the extras should run $17,700, about $2,200 more than the standard build.

2016 Ford Escape Titanium - Photo by Ford

2016 Escape Titanium Steps Up the Tech with Many High-end Safety and Convenience Features

The Titanium trim takes a lot of the confusion off the table. Where an SE has many optional goodies, a 2016 Escape Titanium comes with most features as standard, like:

  • Leather seats
  • Push-button start
  • 10-way, heated front seats with driver's memory
  • Eight-inch infotainment screen with Sync 3
  • Dual-zone climate control

Unique to the Titanium, a glossy, black-finished upper grille, center stack, and window switch bezels. What's more, find chrome accents on the tailgate, a foot-activated power liftgate, and silver-painted roof-rack side rails. Ambient lighting also comes on Escape Titanium, illuminating the interior in your choice of seven mood-setting colors.

4WD is still an option, as is the 2.0L engine, giving the standard FWD Titanium trim with the 1.8L EcoBoost a Blue Book Value of about $18,300.

Optional Packages on Escape Titanium

The 2016 Escape Titanium is offered with two add-on packages. The first is the 301A Technology Package, which adds:

  • HID headlights
  • Blind-spot Information system (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Active park assist
  • Forward sensing system

The second optional bundle is the same Class II Trailer Tow Package offered on the SE. Standalone items include 19-inch Premium Luster Nickel-painted wheels, black roof rail crossbars, voice-activated navigation, a rear cargo cover, and the Panoramic Vista Roof.

With all the extras, KBB estimates a December 2021 fair purchase price of about $19,700, $1,400 more than the standard Titanium.

Escape Titanium Offers the Most Value for a Minimal Price Increase

With a base, pre-owned Escape S starting a bit shy of $15,000, a 2016 Titanium model with all the bling only runs about $5,000 more. Considering what you get for this small spread, we can't help but label the 2016 Escape Titanium as the best bang-for-your-buck trim in the model's lineup.

2016 Escape Titanium has a better ride than the lesser models

The trim is nice, leather interior, 4WD, back up display monitor making it easy to quickly and safely back into spots, sun roof, navigation, automatic windows/seats and lift gate that opens with a foot placed under the tailgate. I find the liftgate feature a bit persnickety as it works when it feels like it. Gives a decent ride with the larger wheel base. I had test drove the lower end models and found this one to handle much better. Gas mileage is not horrible at about 25 mpg because of 4WD feature automatically engaging when you step on the gas and it turns itself off as you reach about 20 mph unless it's needed for inclement weather. Size is perfect for me. Especially love the heated seats in the winter and the button to save your preference for seat position as other people will move or drive my car.

2016 Ford Escape SE: dependable, durable and smooth.

It is a good car, a reliable car, but not a top of the line, outstanding car. However, for the options ford has available, the escape is affordable, dependable, and provides good value for the cost. The gas mileage is not great, but it is not terrible. The escape also includes lots of features that just tend to make your drive better, such as automatic high power ac/heat when you turn on the car, touchscreen compatibility, rear camera, heated seats, heated mirrors, a rear wiper and a very powerful defroster that has allowed me to ditch my ice scraper and in turn just let the car run for 5-10 minutes. The 4wd performs well in snow, ice, sleet, etc. And has enough power to tow small attachments.

2016 Escape S: Two row-crossover with features that make for smooth/safe driving.

I like the size of my vehicle it is the perfect size for me. Some of the features included are: Bluetooth, backup camera, 911 assist, hands free calling/texting, and more. I like that I can drive and not worried about being distracted from calls and especially text ( you have the option for it to be read out loud to you). There is plenty of leg space throughout the car for passengers. There is also plenty of trunk space. There is also a feature that shows you how many miles you have left until your gas tank is empty, you also get a 35 miles left alert when you are low.

My Bluetooth audio is my favorite part of my 2016 Escape S

We bought my car used, with about 60,000 highway miles. It was well maintained, so the miles were unimportant to me. It has been a fantastic car for our small family. We have had zero problems from it, as we keep it well maintained. I find it very comfortable, although it is a smaller SUV, so you want to take that into consideration. My husband does not think it is comfortable and wishes it were slightly bigger. We have two children, therefore we normally cannot fit more than four people in our car with two kids in car seats.

2016 Ford escape s--super safe and smooth.

I really love my car because it is easy and safe to drive. It has a really nice backup camera which beeps when I get too close to something. One of my favorite feature of this car is it's easy to use touch screen where I can put my maps, music, text messages, and phone calls. It is so very useful to use with a hands-off driving technique. Finally, I love how smooth the car drives. The only thing that is difficult is how sensitive the braking system is but this makes the car even more safe!

Escape into Winter with the 2016 Ford Escape Titanium

The escape has been a trusty road companion. It carries me and my son safely over long distances in the extreme Las Vegas heat and the cold when up in ski resorts. It features everything you need for cold weather, heated seats, defrosting windows and mirrors. The automatic 4 wheel drive is great it kicks in whenever it senses you need traction. Overall I'd say very reliable, and great performances!

2016 ford escape se - a versatile vehicle for a versatile woman.

I love most everything about my vehicle! It is roomy and versatile, the highway mpg is wonderful, and I rarely run into performance issues. It can however be a gas-guzzler at times when driving. I feel it has everything technologically that I would desire in my vehicle as well - rear back-up camera, bluetooth capabilities and so much more

2016 Escape SE - Great starter SUV! Super fun to drive.

I love my escape. Upgraded from a focus when I got a dog. Fit my two kids still in booster seats and an adult in the backseat comfortably. Super comfortable and responsive drive. The smart 4 wheel drive takes on hilly roads like it's nothing. It's the best of both worlds great gas mileage like car and a lot of versatility like an SUV.

Roomy, powerful, and comfortable 2016 Escape SE

So far I have had zero concerns. The car drives well and performs well. It is a smooth drive in the highway and city streets. It is spacious and comfy and the air conditioning works very well. The trunk space is adequate for transporting household goods. The vehicle has plenty of power when accelerating and going down the highway.

Spacious yet compact and comfy 2016 Ford Escape SE

This vehicle is spacious yet compact. Can fit in any parking spots but has the room of an SUV! Love the size of the trunk and the back seat. My dog loves riding back there and checking everything out! Great family vehicle as well. I drive this vehicle at least an hour per day and it is very reliable and comfortable.

Reliable and long lasting 2016 Escape S

The vehicle is comfortable and reliable, I can always count that it is ready and safe to drive. Tires and brakes from original manufacturing lasted 60,000 plus miles which is rare. The only problem is the radio volume control does not work and sometimes the radio does not automatically turn on with the vehicle.

Comfort and ease of driving stand out on the 2016 escape se.

The 2016 ford escape is a comfortable ride due to the ergonomics of the seat and dashboard. I particularly like the adjustable lumbar support and the heated seats. The dash is well lit during night driving and easy to read. The size of the escape is perfect for everyday driving as well as hauling.

2016 ford escape s pros and cons.

Radio shuts itself off and Bluetooth sync has trouble connecting to any secondary phones. The seat and ride comfort is wonderful. It has ample power and enough room for children and also groceries. I love the fuel efficient engine. The rear camera is small and hard to use while backing up.

2016 Escape S is a great vehicle for family purposes.

I have had no problems at all with the car. I get good gas mileage, it is comfortable. It is big enough for me and my child but does not feel like I am driving a big minivan or suburban. The black interior is easy to clean and wipe down if my child spills anything on it.

Economical 2016 ford escape se every family needs at least one.

Love how it handles, reliable- no issues yet. Just changed tires at 60000 miles, love automatic windows and drivers seat adjustment. Lots of cargo space. Like the split back seats, the child restraints that are built in. There is a phone charger in the back seat too.

No real issues, love the car, keep up usual oil change and fluids, no issues will occur, drives great, low maintenance. Rented the car back in 2016, immediately wanted to actually own car. Not too small but not too big. Great features, great vehicle, very happy.

Priced like a car, drives like a car, perks of an SUV. 2016 Escape S

This car is super comfortable, and it rides more like a car than an SUV, while still giving the driver the 'up high' feeling of an SUV. Gas mileage is decent but not great. It is affordable - a good price for what you get!
